Livres Canada Books

Canada Stand

International book fairs are the meeting place for the entire publishing industry. The worldwide network of fairs and salons is a driving force for the development of Canadian book exports.

Livres Canada Books organizes collective stands ranging in size from 20 square metres to more than 200 square metres at some of the world’s major book fairs, including the London Book Fair, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the Beijing International Book Fair and the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Livres Canada Books support

Livres Canada Books’ logistical support services allow publishers to concentrate fully on what are usually an intense few days of meetings and negotiations.

Publishers can choose from two levels of service: a complete turnkey package with fully equipped collective stands and services or a pied-à-terre option for publishers who want to conduct meetings on the collective stand but not display books. Whichever level of service they choose, publishers benefit from the Livres Canada Books support before, during and after the fair.

Pre-show services

Livres Canada Books works with fair authorities to secure the best location for the collective stand on the show floor. We work with contractors to build the booth, specifying the details of shelving, furniture, storage, lighting, electrical connections, carpeting and signage. We register publishers with the fair and provide company information and names of key executives who are attending for inclusion in official fair directories. We obtain all necessary passes, badges and permits. We organize consolidated shipping so publishers can send material to fairs at competitive rates, and take care of customs, drayage, delivery and set-up. We send publishers bulletins keeping them informed on all issues and deadlines. And we promote their attendance at the fair in our own directories and on our website.

On-site services

Livres Canada Books employees set up and staff the Canada stand, distribute promotional material and direct visitors to publishers’ representatives, whether they are exhibiting on the collective stand or elsewhere at the fair. We take messages, gather business leads, manage the collective meeting area and supervise publishers’ booths while they’re away. Where necessary, we arrange for interpreters to assist publishers. At some fairs, we offer a service area with coffee and refreshments as well as fax service, computers, printers and high-speed Internet access. We also visit other stands to track industry trends and discover new opportunities for Canadian publishers.

Post-show services

Once back in Canada, Livres Canada Books sends business leads to publishers and follows up on any other business arising from the fair. We evaluate how things went, suggest improvements and begin making plans for next year.
