Canada – Brazil breakfast

On the morning of Friday, October 8, 2010, Livres Canada Books hosted a group of 27 Canadian publishers and 20 Brazilian colleagues on the Canada stand for a networking breakfast.  The aim of the breakfast was to provide a follow-up to the Livres Canada Books scouting mission to São Paulo, which took place earlier this year.

Livres Canada Books partnered with the Camara Brasileira do livro (Brazilian Book Chamber) to encourage relationships formed during the scouting mission and to build new partnerships between publishers in the two countries.  Ms. Rosely Boschini, President of the Brazilian Book Chamber, was a guest of honour. Also present was Ricardo Costa of PublishNews, a Brazilian industry newsletter with over 12,500 subscribers.

It is too early to report any deals, but many connections were made during the breakfast, and the Brazilian Book Chamber discussed reciprocating with a similar event at Frankfurt in 2011.
