Canada Book Fund contribution approved

It gives us great pleasure to inform you that Livres Canada Books’ request for 3 million dollars in multi-year funding from the Canada Book Fund (CBF) has been approved. The agreement provides for contributions of $1,527,954 in 2011–12 and $1,537,140 in 2012–13.

Publishers eligible for funding under FRMAP and Mentoring – Funding 2011-12 will receive their contribution agreements for signature this month. Contribution payments will be sent to publishers who have returned signed copies of their agreements as soon as we receive our first payment from the CBF.

FRMAP surplus redistribution

Livres Canada Books will redistribute a $54,000 surplus in its FRMAP budget on a prorated basis to 2010/11 FRMAP recipients. The surplus is due in part to an unusually low number of claims for the 2010 London Book Fair, which many publishers were unable to attend due to volcanic eruptions in Iceland and subsequent disruptions to air travel across Europe. The 2010/11 budget for travel claims under FRMAP was $750,000, of which $695,609.70 has already been paid out. Livres Canada Books expects to begin redistributing the surplus funds in the coming weeks.
