In November, 2014, Livres Canada Books engaged in a Scouting Mission to Turkey with a delegation of three Canadian publishers and Livres Canada Books Executive Director. The Scouting Mission to Turkey and the Istanbul Book Fair was a very useful way to gain direct knowledge of the Turkish publishing market and to understand its potential for Canadian publishers. Over the course of five very full days of meetings, the delegation met with over 40 publishers and three literary agencies. The delegation also gave a presentation of the Canadian market to more than 15 Turkish publishers.

This report on the Scouting Mission provides an overview of the market from the perspective of trade, academic and children’s publishing and includes a comprehensive appendix of contacts in Turkey.
