About the Authors

Javier Celaya is member of the executive board of the Digital Economy Association of Spain and CEO and founder of, an online portal that analyzes the impact of new technologies in the publishing sector. Throughout the years, has published more than 50 studies and reports on the use of new technologies in different areas of the publishing sector (digital business models, e-lending evolution, e-commerce trends, mobile strategies, etc.). provides strategic management consultancy services and digital skills training sessions to a wide range of cultural sector professionals—that is, publishers, retailers, librarians, and so on. Javier holds a master’s degree in international relations from Columbia University in New York and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Boston College.

René López-Villamar was born in Mexico in 1979. He is chief project coordinator of, under the Ministry of Culture. René studied electronic engineering at La Salle University and Hispanic studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He is a regular contributor of articles and essays to several Spanish and Mexican magazines, such as La Tempestad, Quimera, Pez Banana, HermanoCerdo, and Tierra Adentro.
