Working with Publishers in Ukraine

Ukrainian embroidery and flag on wooden table

Two years after the Russian military invasion, Ukraine’s society, culture, and economy are adapting to exceptional circumstances and enormous pressures. Although much has changed since the publication of our 2021 market guide on Ukraine, many Ukrainian publishers and authors have remained active in their home country and at international publishing events, sustaining much of the momentum they created in the period before the war.

Organized in collaboration with the Ukrainian Book Institute and the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine, this webinar provides an overview of the Ukrainian book market and tips on building strong business relations between Canadian and Ukrainian publishers.

Take this opportunity to learn about the transformations in the Ukrainian book industry and the ways in which Canadian and Ukrainian publishers can continue to work together during these challenging times.

Topics include:

  • co-editions, export, and rights opportunities;
  • reading and book buying habits;
  • distribution and bookstores;
  • and information about the services currently available through the Trade Commissioner service at the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine.
